Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The tale screenwriter Ronald Bass came up with, and the way director John N. Smith tells it, is stereotypical, predictable and simplified to the point of meaninglessness. – Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times, Jan 22, 2006

Rotten: If only the filmmakers had used some subtlety in telling the story, they could have done right by the real LouAnne Johnson. – Kevin McManus, Washington Post, Mar 7, 2001

Rotten: Pfieffer is absurdly miscast: Sly Stallone would make a more plausible Mr. Chips than the frail, squeaky actress does a nine-year veteran of the Marine Corps. – Rita Kempley, Washington Post, Mar 7, 2001

Rotten: The movie pretends to show poor black kids being bribed into literacy by Dylan and candy bars, but actually it is the crossover white audience that is being bribed with mind-candy in the form of safe words by the two Dylans. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Teaching

Dangerous Minds is a moive that shows how at times life can't be lived by the books; when unconventional teaching strategies are used, all hold-bars are off. Michelle Pfeiffer leads a class of students that won't conform to the system, as LouAnne Johnson; frist time teacher that goes through a trial by fire. LouAnne (Pfeiffer) must resort to street smarts in making connections between the abstract academics and the rough, chaotic and dangerous backgrounds of the students whose lives she holds in her hands.

Love this flick!

I loved this movie ( and the soundtrack) from the minute I saw/heard it. Great message and who could ever NOT love to watch Michele? She is superb :) ANYONE know why the soundtrack isn't available??
