The Composer of Desafinado plays

Jobim is at his best. A relaxing Bosa Nova style musical journey.

Truely a Classic

What makes this so not unique is what makes this disc so very special. The arrangments of Claus Ogermann and the music of the genius that is Jobim blends into what is, at once jazz, easy listening and bossa nova, but never really locked into any one catagory. Of any disc that Jobim recorded this is truely his greatest hits in a single package, and with no reservations his best Verve effort.
At a time when his music was still new and he was not stuck on being too critical of everything that "smelled" too North American, this just lets the sweet sound of tempo and melody bloom.Just listen to the way Jobim's plaintive piano plays the melody, on Vivo Sonhando, and suddenly Ogermann's strings caress the solo piano like a soft lover.
I have played this collection for nearly 45 years now and have NEVER gotten tired of any part of the whole experience. Should you not own this one, you are sadly missing a key link in any collection of MUSIC!

Perfection

My father introduced me to this album decades ago. Every track is beautiful. Great compositions, great string arrangements. One of the best of all time.

With their gracefully urbane, sensuously aching melodies and harmonies,...
