Album Review

This Shirley Horn CD is a little unusual, as it was recorded at her home. The four sessions utilized some of her favorite musicians, including bassists Steve Novosel and Charles Ables; drummers Steve Williams, Elvin Jones, and Billy Hart; trumpeter Roy Hargrove (on "The Meaning of the Blues") and Joe Henderson; and Buck Hill on tenors. As usual, virtually all of the songs are taken at slow tempos, with "All or Nothing at All" given a definitive treatment. Other highlights include "The Look of Love," "Fever," and Henderson's playing on "You Go to My Head."

Divine

I love jazz music and I am always looking to find someone new since my collection isn't that vast. I love sarah, elle, nancy, billie, diane krall. The interesting thing is when I hear Shirley Horn voice Diane Krall came to mind. I can hear that Miss Horn was someone she admired. Diane coverd some of her songs. Well, I just know of two, Peel me a grape and The look of Love ( which has been ccovered before). Great cd. Ear kandi. Smooth and elegant sound. The musician are amazing.
