Album Review

Guitar Trio is an excellent collaborative effort from three of the finest jazz guitarists of the post-rock & roll era: Paco de Lucía, John McLaughlin, and Al di Meola. Throughout the record, the trio doesn't just showcase their instrumental skills; they demonstrate their musicality. This is sympathetic, emotional musicianship, where each musician complements each other instead of trying to out-do the other. For jazz guitar fans, it rarely gets more exciting than Guitar Trio.

Magnificent...Breathtaking!

In 1996, these three gentlemen played at Symphony Hall in Boston for two hours. I had a seat that required turning your neck 90 degrees and and leaning forward. I went home with severe pain, but with memories of a magnificent and breathtaking performance. That night, I bought this CD, and if you could wear a groove in one, I have. It is a combination of classical guitar brilliance along with a sensitivity and lightness that makes it SO listenable. It's as wonderful a collection of bright sunny music as it is a 2 am CD with songs like Manha de Carnival... light, sweet notes float through the air, and land in your ears like doves... Ah, if they could only make another disc... please buy this one and you will not be disappointed.. thanks....

Chilling

After listening for five minutes, I quickly got chills. Not only do you hear unbelievable riffs, you are suprised by the melodies they inject. For example, it nearly brought tears to my eyes after listening to Manha de Carnaval. Is it classical? Jazz? Chilling is the only word I can come up with.

Guitar Trio

It couldn't get any better than this. Beyond the Mirage is a wicked cool song that I think any jazz musician will like. An absolute must for any person/musician that loves jazz.
