Beautifully Nostalgic

These themes from Studio Ghibli Productions such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa, Kiki's Delivery Service, Porco Rosso, and My Neighbor Totoro are skillfully rendered with only the koto and shakuhachi. While this simplified form offers less grandeur than the orchestrated soundtrack version, the music seems content to play humbly and quietly in the background. I find this to be good "study" music for a Miyazaki fan such as myself. A few notes could be construed as being off-key. Someone could probably attribute this to the creativity of the instrument player. This music wouldn't be out of place in the background of an expensive trinket shop. For those buying only one or two songs, here are the movies and their corresponding songs. Spirited Away: Always With Me ("Itsumo Nando-demo"), Futatabi ("Reprise"), Ano Natsu He ("One Summer Day") Princess Mononoke: Princess Mononoke, Ashitaka and San Nausicaa: Nausicaa- Requiem, Nausicaa- opening My Neighbor Totoro: Kaze no Torii Michi ("The Path of the Wind") Kiki's Delivery Service: Town Where You Can See the Ocean ("Umi no Mieru Machi"), Hareta Hi ni ("On a Clear Day") Castle in the Sky: Kimi wo Nosete ("Carrying You"), Jikan no Shiro ("Castle of Time")

Amazing!!...but where are the originals?

I was ecstatic to find this album, and when I listened to the previews it really sent chills up my spine. Joe Hisaishi's orchestra is amazing but it's also nice to hear these themes in the beautiful simplicity of the East Winds Ensemble. But where's the original score? Come on, iTunes, give us more anime music! Especially Miyazaki!!!!!!

Great Music

Miyazaki always has great movies especially my neighbor totoro, spirited away and howl's moving castle. I love his work. Its nice to see some of the songs on itunes. Now if only itunes would put some more anime songs up we'd be set...
