One of 2005's best albums

This is one of the best records of 2005. If you're a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins "Adore," chances are this may be up your alley. A lot of people forgot about this album when Billy went public with his plans to re-unite The Smashing Pumpkins, but don't let the lack of exposure fool you, these songs are top-notch and show a true genius at work.

for hardcore fans only

You could take the music from any song on this album and combine it with the vocals of any other track on the album and it wouldn't make a difference. This disconnect of music and vocals is what makes this a mediocre album. The music is comprised of generic electro beats layered with spacey, aimless guitar. There is almost no musical hook to be found in the entire album. The vocals are standard Corgan fare, strange and periodically insightful. Though not an abysmal attempt, it doesn't even come close to the smashing pumpkins last studio album, Machina, or Jimmy Chamberlin's solo project, The Jimmy Chamberlin Complex.

The Future Embraced

This album is from the intrepid visionary behind The Smashing Pumpkins, and while the distinct voice is the only similarity between Corgan's solo work and his other bands, the album is reminiscent of his past success and rock star years. This album doesn't have the ripping hard edge solo's that Corgan presented with the Pumpkins, as well as with Zwan, but it does have complex organized melodic guitar tracks mixed with various kinds of programming that envokes a sonic wave of intense emotional sound. TheFutureEmbrace is the perfect title for Corgan's solo debut, because in 40 years this is what music will be. Yeah, it's that good.

As the guitarist/singer/head-songwriter for the Smashing Pumpkins, Billy Corgan was one of alt-rock's leaders and focal points for much of the '90s. Born on March 17, 1967, in Elk Grove, IL, Corgan's first true exposure to music came from his father, Bill Corgan, Sr., who was a blues guitarist. After his parents divorced at an early age, Corgan moved from one relative to the next, and by age 14, he began playing guitar himself (citing such hard rock bands as Cheap Trick and Van Halen as important...
