Have had Sonos for years. Started with a ZP90 (now called Connect) to compliment my existing stereo system. Built it up over time and now have the Playbar, Sub and two Play 3's which make for a great 5:1 surround system when paired with an Octava 41-ARC switch. One could get a less expensive set up with the same degree of fidelity, and one could get a less expensive set up with a lesser degree of connectivity and ease of use. But as of this writing, it is this writer's opinion (and that of many, many others) that Sonos has the best combination of ease of use, high quality solutions, and outstanding customer support. That comes at a premium, but I got all of my equipment at about 50-60% of list price by shopping reputable eBay merchants and a local Craigslist seller.
I do not have tons of disposable income and research purchases extensively before even spending a couple hundred dollars. I spent much more on this and have had zero regrets. I am looking forward to continuing to add devices to more rooms in the future. This is one solution you just don't have to over-think.
Great App and Products...gets better with time
I've been a fan of Sonos as a company and their products since about 2006 and the days of the ZP 100. Most items that I have bought will depreciate in value and quality over time, however, my Sonos system and the apps to support it have aged like fine wine...both have only gotten better with time. The 2 ZP100s that I owned got destroyed during Hurricane Sandy so I went out and purchased 2 Play:5's and a connect amp...that's how good the ecosystem and apps are from this company. Although the interface could use some work. In the end though they are always looking out for the customer...whether it's through adding meaningful features that you'll actually use on the app and the players or through the excellent customer support that they offer...if it were possible to give this app a higher rating I would. Enough good things cannot be said about Sonos as a whole. Love it so much that I have gotten a few people Play:1s for Christmas.
I've had a Sonos system for several years. It has provided a flexible, reliable, and high quality sound system for my entire house. It works well with my WiFi network and multiple computers. It can pick up my music from several computers concurrently. In addition, one of my favorite music sources is Pandora Radio - which is available on my Sonos system. I'm not using all of the available Sonos hardware. I've been slowly adding components as the need arises. I've had no problems with Sonos software or upgrades.
Only thing I would want Sonos to develop are outside speakers. Even though their current speakers are WiFi portable and easily moved, would be nice to be able to mount them on a deck.
Finally, Sonos support is top notch. They are responsive and have an excellent online FAQ. it seems that Sonos is constantly working on improving their system an services. I guess I'm a satisfied customer.
