For individuals who struggle with severe, out-of-control weight problems, life can seem demoralizing and hopeless. Follow the remarkable journeys of dangerously overweight individuals as they attempt to regain their dignity and reclaim their health in the new real-life series, Heavy. With unprecedented access into their weight-loss efforts, A&E chronicles the lives of individuals who, over a five- to seven-month period, will strive to lose 150-300 pounds. Each person’s transformation process is told, in its entirety, in a single episode, from the points of view of both the individual and the friends and family affected by his or her condition. For participants – who come from all walks of life but share the inability to manage their escalating weight – the process will begin with the help of specialists who possess the track records, knowledge and techniques necessary to inspire dramatic results in a short period of time. In the midst of a life-threatening crisis, will these overweight individuals be able to overcome behavioral problems and food addictions to achieve true-life change?

First off, let me say that if you are going to post anything negative about this show on here, you are a real first class piece of crap!!!! I am one of the participants in this show and we were given a chance to change our lives and take back what we learned to further our Journeys. I hope this will inspire others out there that are in the same boat as I was!!! I know there will be loads of haters out there trying to bring us down but like it says in the commercial, we don't win any money and this is not about fame and fortune.. this is real true life and I am delighted to be apart of this show, & congrats to everyone that participated and good luck on their individual journeys!!!
This show is the Real Deal
I am very excited to see this show. Having personal knowledge about one of the weight-loss clinics featured on the show, I can say that this show is the real deal. The weight loss clinic that I have knowledge of is ONLY about lifestyle changes (@penelope) and no quick fixes. These people all had an extreme amount of weight to lose therefore making it easier for them to lose large amounts at a time. I congratulate those who are a part of this show and think it was very RESPONSIBLE of the contestants to want to take charge of their lives, lose weight and get healthy the right way! I recommend that EVERYONE watch this show...you may even learn a thing or two!
I applaud everyone who took part in this show. I think its extremely courageous to put yourself out there for the world to see! Alot of people don't understand what its like to be heavy. I have struggled with weight my whole life. People can be judgmental and just downright nasty. It's not easy being overweight, there is the health issue, not to mention being treated differently or being made fun of. It's not always a choice. I think alot of people can identify with the participants and I think this show has the potential to help alot of people out there that may have no hope. This isn't some crash diet or surgery...there is no easy way out. They are showing them with hard work and actually changing your lifestyle (balancing diet and exercise) that you can lose the weight and keep it off! I think its amazing and extremely motivational!!! Keep up the good work!
