Ancient Egyptians, Charles Darwin and Teddy Roosevelt shared a surprising skill: taxidermy. It has played a key role in evolving the study and understanding of natural history and wildlife conservation. Before photography, taxidermy was how Darwin preserved specimens of new species. Museum exhibits created through taxidermy serve as many children’s introduction to the animals of our planet, past and present. This historic tradition continues with Russell Knight, the world-renowned owner of the family-run Knight’s Taxidermy in Anchorage, Alaska. The HISTORY docuseries Mounted is filmed at their shop, which is staffed by a skilled group of Alaskan outdoorsmen, each with a taxidermy specialty. From prehistoric to present day, Mounted puts the hidden world on display to reveal a fascinating aspect of history.

Mounted in Alaska is a funny show
Mounted in Alaska is the best show about Alaska on TV!
That guy that does the fish mounts cracks me up. I think his name is Dave.
He reminds me of a firefighter I used to work with, always messing and joking around.
Mounted In Alaska
"Mounted" shows people behind the scenes of a widely mysterious practice, and makes it addicting to watch with tons of humor, interesting facts, and cool taxidermy methods. A few months ago, I didn't know a Salmon from a Shoulder mount, but this show helped me learn a ton about this field....and made me addicted to the show.
