Pokémon GO 9+

Pokémon Go just keeps me coming back for more. Why? Simply put, I just love Pokémon and great technology and this experience brings both to my finger tips. I have been immersed in this world since it’s launch and never looked back.

As a User Experience designer I can see the process from concept to implementation and even though there are elements that are not perfect, I am confident in Niantic to know that it is either coming or there is a reason why they delayed fixing a bug or experience.

I have nothing but respect for you guys and keep it coming. Every release makes me love u guys more and more.

Your Pokémon Bag is full.

Your Item Bag is full.

Catch tons of similar pokémon over and over to evolve that specific pokémon. A better approach I still think would’ve been type candy e.g you need electric type candy to evolve electric type pokémon etc.

Do gyms but get a max of 50 poké coins a day regardless of how many gyms you have, and you only get coins once the pokémon is kicked out. Like what is this mechanic even...

While Niantic has done a good job of rolling out new updates the overall experience has gotten more and more grindy over time and honestly this is a financial thing. They want to get you frustrated enough to spend money on stuff you need just to keep playing.

There’s also issues with the overall UI/UX where it takes way too many user interactions to, for example, clear your pokémon bag and when you’re in a rush and something you need to do is time bound(raids, pokémon you need to catch etc) it can get incredibly frustrating.

While doing raids with random people and friends after work is fun, it’s just not enough anymore. They really should do something about the overall game experience. I’d gladly buy cosmetics if I really want it but the other stuff, sorry nope.

(Note: I’ve been playing relatively consistently since the game came out.)

I for one was very excited when I first saw that there was an explorative real life Pokémon game and at first I was mesmerized, but after a few hours of playing sed game I started to encounter some bugs.

These bugs would include the screen freezing at random intervals and kicking me out of the app in midst of a battle, and even if I somehow managed to complete the battle and the screen showing that I've won it would then stab me in the back and kicking me out once again and leaving me without the rewards I so struggled to achieve, keep in mind this happened multiple times EACH game, leaving me with relentless rage and frustration.

I REALLY enjoy the idea behind the game and can see that ALOT of time was poured into this project. That is why I'm disappointed but also optimistic for the future of this game and what it could mean for the Pokémon games to come.
