Waist to hip ratio is increasingly being used by doctors in preference to BMI as a better measurement of the risk of obesity and cardiovascular disease.
Possibly a better way to determine whether you’re a healthy weight is to look at your waist to hip ratio, since this is a measure of how much fat you’re storing around your middle.
This is important, because your waistline is not a healthy place to store fat. The problem is that it’s easier for stored belly fat to get into the bloodstream, contributing to clogged arteries, and hence your risk of heart disease and stroke. It also increases your risk of getting diabetes.
