Took a Chance

I took a chance and bought this album after seeing them accidentally at a small bar venue in Maine. They are a Boston, MA band but apparently they play just about everywhere. I can't say enough about the great vibe on this album. It's sometimes hard to get into a new band without much exposure, but this one is worth the effort. The guitar riffs are hot, the bass lines exceptional and the 2 singers balance each other well with contrasting but impressive vocal skills. When I saw them live the drummer was belting out with an awesome voice without missing a beat, get it? And I can't say enough about the harmonica. The guy rocked it so impressively live that I'm surprised it isn't used more on the album. I used to play the harp, and this guy is so far beyond anyone I've ever played with that it was the sound of his solo from outside the bar that drew me in off the street. There are a few different styles here so if you're going to check out one or two songs instead of the album, start with Hey Hey and Carried Away. These are two more contrasting sounds, but both solid in their own right. Final word on the album: worth every penny of ten bucks. Final word on the band: see them live.

Boston's Best

I caught these guys in the midwest, finishing off a tour where they opened for O.A.R. They're hot. Great production and mixing by Grammy-winning producer Thom Russo gives their funky, hard-driving stage show a smoother, impressive studio sound.

Holy crap, guys.

Last time I looked you up on iTunes you weren't here...AND you released another album since I left MA. And now that I'm back, I'm DEFINITELY going to be at the show at the Paradise in September. SO. EXCITED! You may or may not remenber me, anyway, but I'll see you there! P.S. I heart you Eric-Jon! Haha. <3 Excellent job guys.
