iTunes Review

Melophobia means “fear of music,” but there is nothing to be scared of on Cage the Elephant’s shimmering third album. The Kentucky garage rockers build this catchy collection on spiraling guitars (“Telescope”), splashy drums (“It’s Just Forever”), and sunshine melodies that could break the thickest cloud cover (see: the ‘60s garage homage “Hypocrite”). Melophobia blends decades of mind-melting sounds to create a psych-infused monster of a rock ‘n’ roll record, before wrapping with the unforgettable, lush pop gem “Cigarette Daydreams.”

Customer Reviews

They've finally done it.

I've always wanted to love this band for an entirety of an album. CTE and TY,HB were good but far from extraordinary. However, both albums had at least four amazing songs which made up for the album. Now with "Melophobia" they might not be getting those top charting songs and have the drive of songs like "Shake Me Down" or "Ain't No Rest" but rest assured the entirety of this record is quality and it's easily their best album for being an album and not a few songs. Now you may disagree with me on this but I have thought this out listening through each album and all of their albums are good but they just seemed weak with a couple of amazing racks where Melophobia is an amazing album missing the amazing tracks. It all makes up for itself since all their albums go hand-in-hand together very well so there's no loss by what it sounds like I'm saying. This is a superb record and I hope to listen to it more throughtout the coming months. 4.5/5

Been a fan since day one

Cage The Elephant is one of my favorite bands and this album is gonna be amazing. I'm highly looking forward to it. I loved the new single and I love the direction that they are deciding to go with this new album. Can't wait until the release!

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Although chart success in England was an unlikely first step to fame for a band from Bowling Green, Kentucky, mainstream rock band Cage the Elephant achieved just that. Formed by Matt Shultz, Brad Shultz, Jared Champion, Lincoln Parish, and Daniel Tichenor, the group earned a contract with the Relentless label and released the "Free Love" single late in 2007. A support slot for the Pigeon Detectives beckoned in early 2008, and follow-up single "Ain't No Rest for the Wicked" reached the Top 40 in...
