iTunes Review

Ke$ha’s second official EP, Deconstructed, was originally a bonus disc. Until now, it was only available from her website if you bought the fan version of her 2012 sophomore album, Warrior. On it, she chose to open with a cover of Dolly Parton’s "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You," which was cowritten by Ke$ha’s mother, Patricia Rose Sebert, in 1978. Played at an intense heartbeat tempo with stark piano notes and a palpable yearning in Ke$ha’s voice, this arresting version is more haunting than the original. Though the other four songs here are also acoustic, don’t think for a second that Ke$ha’s gone country. Her rendition of “Blow” from 2010’s Cannibal gets transformed from its original electro dance-party anthem to an Adele-inspired ballad where the demure mood and eerie minor chords change the lyrics' tone; it sounds like Ke$ha is trapped in a Lindsay Lohan–esque downward spiral of nightlife dystopia. “Die Young” gets similarly reworked with a darker patina, making Ke$ha’s mortality awareness sound more urgent.

It's finally on iTunes & it's perfect!

This has been out since the album to those who ordered the fan pack but I'm glad it's finally on iTunes. Those who
Doubt ke$ha's vocal ability will be pleasantly surprised to hear what a great voice she has underneath all the autotune & vocal effects on her albums. BLOW is haunting. Only ke$ha can take such fun lyrics & make it sound so meaningful & complete change the tone of a song. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

Ke$ha has really blown me away lately. This acoustic album really shows off her voice and it's beautiful. I never loved a totally stripped down album before this. Great great album and totally worth every penny.

Very Surprised!

I just gained a new found respect for Ke$ha. She actually has some pretty decent talent. It's so nice to hear her true vocal talents. She should perform like this more often. I always love discovering stripped down or acoustic versions of songs. It shows us who really has talent. Artists like P!nk and Kelly Clarkson always sound good live and/or acoustic and now I can add Ke$ha to that list. Never thought I'd say that.

A brash and driven pop singer/songwriter, Kesha (Kesha Rose Sebert) was born in Los Angeles but moved to Nashville when she was four, where her mother -- a longtime songwriter -- had inked a publishing deal. (Over a decade prior to that, Pebe Sebert's biggest success had come with "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You," originally recorded by Joe Sun and later by Dolly Parton.) Before finishing high school, Kesha returned to L.A. for the sake of jump-starting her own music career, despite being...
