iTunes Editors’ Notes

Australia's Sick Puppies are hardly the abrasive and offensive power trio that their name suggests. The best songs on their fourth album, 2013's Connect, are largely the ones that embrace their commercial pop instincts. "Gunfight" may have a rattling, repetitive chorus that sticks, but it's no match for the smooth, harmonious grandeur of the acoustic-based "Poison," where smooth production from Rock Mafia (a.k.a. Tim James and Antonina Armato) enhances the vibe dramatically. Similarly, "Where Did the Time Go," with its gentle dynamic between acoustic verses and slightly electrified choruses, shows a more interesting group than the one that tries to pummel the competition on "Walking Away." That a band named Sick Puppies would actually be at their best at their most sensitive ("Telling Lies," "Connect," "Under a Very Black Sky") awakens the old cliché of never judging a book by its title. The deluxe version has four bonus cuts, including the charged-up "What Are You Thinking" and a bonus version of the single "There's No Going Back."

Connect by Sick Puppies

I am excited to hear the brand new album by Sick Puppies due out July 16th. Sick Puppies' fans have been waiting on this album!! The single "There's No Going Back" is something different I've not heard from Sick Puppies before. They are always reinventing themselves and it's one thing I love about this 3 piece band. With each new album we see just have diverse and talented they are. From the strong vocals Shim provides as well as amazing guitar riffs, to the beautiful back up vocal sung by the beautiful female of the band Emma and her amazing bass playing talent that put most men to shame in the rock n roll biz to Mark's energetic mastering of drums. Sick Puppies have the full package. They stay on the cutting edge of music and in my opinion makes them one of the greatest rock bands today

Perfect. Great Album

This is a great album. I think it is the best album from sick puppies yet. Each song is so good. I really love sick puppies. Great Album, I would buy it. Worth the money.

A different sound

This album sounds like it has a different sound compared to their other albums, which is a good thing. It seems like they added an extra something to their songs, and they have stronger vocals going. I know there will be those who complain about it, but I love it.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

With a name like Sick Puppies, you wouldn't think hugs would play a major role in the gutsy indie crew's rise to fame, but they do, along with malls and YouTube. When they met in 1997, singer/lead guitarist Shimon Moore and bassist Emma Anzai were both fans of Silverchair and the Living End plus many of the other angst rock/punk rock bands from their native Australia. Soon Chris Mileski joined on drums and a series of live gigs led to some local recognition and the 1999 EP Dog's Breakfast. Two years...
