iTunes Review

R. Kelly is a definitive figure in pop music of the last 20 years, a span that's covered on this superlative retrospective. Kelly’s longevity can be attributed to three things: his tireless productivity, his willingness to treat the R&B genre with a healthy amount of playfulness, and the force of his personal vision (he writes, produces, and sings all of his own material). Of course, he's a powerful vocalist and a seductive presence, and every other thing a male R&B star should be. But when people hear this compendium of songs, what they experience above all else is Kelly's creative approach to entertainment. “Ignition Remix,"” “Step in the Name of Love (Remix),” and “Fiesta” are so creatively confident that it seems Kelly can dance around his idea even as he's creating it. He's become such a consummate showman that some of his darker material has been overlooked. Thankfully, this collection reinstates “Down Low (Nobody Has to Know)” and “When a Woman’s Fed Up”: two gorgeously moody songs from the man best known for outlandish sex tales and inspirational balladry.

Best Of The Best

For those people who aren't R. Kelly junkies, The R. In R&B Collection, Vol. 1 is perfect because it showcases some of his most amazing songs and his undeniable creative ability. Some of his greatest ballads are featured on here-classics like Bump N' Grind(which you can never get enough of), Your Body's Callin', Sex Me, Pt. 1 and You Remind Me of Something(so addictive) along with his present hits-Ignition Remix, I Wish and some new songs- Thoia Thoing to name one. There's some very noticable songs missing- where the hell is 'Half On A Baby' and 'If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time'?- but even with those absent this cd is still pure brilliance. Such is the genius of R. Kelly.

The King of sex music

Robert Kelly is best slow jam artist of the century. Chris Brown and Neo have huge shoes to fell, if they even want to compete. I dont agree with his decisions that he makes but, the man makes outstanding music and no one can take that away from him.

good start....

as a huge r.kelly fan from way back in the day :) i would definitely suggest this cd for a newbie as previously stated by the other reviewer, it is missing some jems like yes, "half on a baby" but u should probably catch up by buying all his albums anyway!

R&B producer/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter R. Kelly and his supporting band Public Announcement began recording in 1992 at the end of the new jack swing era, yet he was able to keep much of its sound alive while remaining commercially successful. While he created a smooth, professional mixture of hip-hop beats, soulman crooning, and funk, the most distinctive element of Kelly's music is its explicit carnality. He was able to make songs like "Sex Me," "Bump n' Grind," "Your Body's Callin',"...
