Excellent Surprise

I stumbled across Persona on YouTube while looking for some new bands. The more I listened, the more I liked what I heard. This album is extremely well composed, especially when you consider that they're an independent band with no label or studio support. If I have one gripe with the album, it's that the guitar solo on Monsters doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the track. It sticks out even more when compared to the brilliant solo on the very next track (He Kills Me More). All in all, an excellent album, and I really look forward to seeing what Persona brings us in the future.

About Persona

Drummer-turned-producer Eric Cook worked with noise-rockers Gravitar and blues-rockers Bantam Rooster before turning to electronic music in the late '90s. Based in Dearborn, Michigan, Cook began playing in 1985, and spent time in several local bands before joining Gravitar in 1992. He appeared on several of the band's albums, including the celebrated debut Gravitaativaravitar, before joining Bantam Rooster in 1994. Cook began spending more time on his electronic solo recordings (a hobby since 1991) after breaking his ankle in early 1998. By the end of the year, he'd completed his first full album, Maximal. It earned release on California's Vinyl Communications the following year.
