This may be the first review written by an iTunes customer who has not yet listened to the music reviewed. I have heard some of this in the past on the radio, and it seemed to be an endless series of Brucknerian climaxes. Even the most fanatical fans of Wilhelm F (and I am one) seem to struggle to find anything positive to say about his compositions. I've yet to see any real enthusiasm.
Why then did I spend $10.99 on this this? I do not burn money, or have much of it. The reason is that Wilhelm Furtwangler is the most insightful, profound philosophers in the history of music, and his live-concert recordings are rarely less than an overwhelming mystical experience. Therefore, it seemed to me scandalous that no one had bought this record. WF deserves better. Sooner or later, I will give it a listen. You should too.
