Album Review

The Arch/Matheos project is a reunion of Fates Warning founders Jim Matheos and John Arch, who parted ways in 1987 when vocalist Arch left the group after its third album, Awaken the Guardian. Matheos' appearance on Arch's 2003 EP Twist of Fate was the first indication of a new collaboration, but it took them until 2011 to finally release an entire album. Together with other Fates Warning musicians — current bassist Joey Vera, former guitarist Frank Aresti, and current live drummer Bobby Jarzombek — the duo recorded Sympathetic Resonance as a 54-minute prog metal album that is not a continuation of the 25-year-old Awaken the Guardian, but rather shows how Fates Warning might sound today if Arch had stayed with the band.

FINALLY IS F'n CORRECT!!n

I LOVE this! it is so nice to hear Arch's singing and how with time his writing has changed on this and Twist of Fate. This is brilliant guys its is all I have listened to for a week now. Everyone sounds great, Jim is a master writer, Joe Vera is always great and Frank Aresti is a welcomed sound to Jim's songs. The drums, oh my god Bobby Jarzombek is amazing! I know it is far too soon to ask for more, but i will want more that goes without saying.

Opera singers and why? Look at where metal came from, Black Sabbath, Ozzy could get up there in range like on Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Ian Gillan-Deep Purple,Robert Plant (if you don't know then just stop reading here) . Then the man who prerry much solidified this style of singing, Rob Halford then Bruce Dickinson, John Arch was not very far behind them, This is not typical metal, you will find far better singers and musicians in Prog-metal. There are plenty of bands with singers who grunt, scream and write about suicide and letting the bodies hit the floor. Treat the pallet to something different, unless you like the stale scraps they are calling metal these days.

FINALLY!!!!

Oh, how long we've waited for this. Sure, we got a small tease out of a Twist of Fate, but nothing like this. This will no doubt be THE best album of 2011. The riffs, time changes, melody lines, everything it seems simply SCREAMS top notch production.

Bad Vocals ??

To the terds who say bad vocals and opera singer comments, GO AWAY !!! ARCH is the most amazing metal singer ever!! if you liked Tate, Dane, Halford, Kiske, Dickenson you know who you are. You are true metal fans not these American Idol metal impostors. This is the real thing, absolutely AMAZING. Don't hesitate, jump on this one.
