Great melodic death metal classic

Desultory's two gems were Into Eternity and Bitterness. Bitterness stepped it up a bit. One thing I love about Desultory is how they make enjoyable music with simple melodyand brutality. The leads over the rythm guitar fit perfectly through the album. My instant favorite on the album was Taste of Tradegy, then Life Shatters. Then I watched an old music video of Desultory's for their song Winter. Made me release how great this album truly is. "The cold cleanses my soul And reveal to me The harmony that long was lost It sets my spirits free At last I feel, I feel at ease The winter cold just grants me peace
The bitter cold is here Light dies, I hear you cry A dismal life appear I live while others die" For fans of both straight forward death metal like Dismember, Exhumed, or classic melodic death metal like Gates of Ishtar, Edge of Sanity (who were straight forward death metal), old In Flames, Ablaze my Sorrow.

I can't belive I've never heard of this album before, but I can guess the reason is that the band only had two good albums. This is the bands second album and for me thier best. Everyone seems to rave about how thier first album Into Eternity was so good but I don't hear near as many people talking about this one. It sounds pretty different from thier first one; the production is better and the vocals are less gutteral and more Sepultura like (think Arise). The lyrics aren't typical death metal lyrics because they are about sadness, tragedy, and obviously bitterness which is kind of refreshing. I would recommend buying the whole thing but if your on the fence just give the first song Life Shatters a listen.
