Nice Beethoven from MTT and the San Francisco Symphony

The Beethoven second symphony was an unexpected pleasure. I enjoyed MTT’s Mahler cycle, but his Beethoven left me underwhelmed. With this recording, though, the SFSO plays with punchy rhythm, and a precise, well-balanced wind section. I guess I don’t like the Cantata as much as MTT does. Perhaps it will grow on me.
