The Whomping Willows Branch Out!

I'm sorry for the lame pun but I couldn't help myself! If you've been listening to The Whomping Willows be forewarned - things have changed. The moody, downhearted, depressed willow has been blown out of his depression by REAL problems - the battle of Hogwarts took place right in his own backyard and since then he's been a Willow with a Mission! This album is Wrock and Wroll all the way - harsher, louder, braver, and FRESH. I can't play this in my old GMC Jimmy or the last speaker will pop but it's a favorite on our home stereo and of course, my iPod! As always, the lyrics are marvelous! My favorite is 'Fang, Stop Peeing On My Trunk' - one of the most mellow on the CD. 'The Tour Song' is another favorite, having attended a few live performances this song captures what we love so much about this band! This is a departure from his previous two albums, but it's a turn that feels natural and works well! Great energy, passion and drive - it's clear that The Whomping Willows weathered Deathly Hallows and came out of the Great Battle recharged and ready to take on the world!

Yeah for Wrock

I was waiting for this album to show up on itunes and here it finally is. I just love te Whomping WIllows. Wrock on

I lost my Wrock virginity to this album. Sure, I'd heard a few songs on myspace or people's playlists on shuffle, but... Never my own, and never focussed. So... this makes me an unbiased judge. And I'll tell you this; if you enjoy the Ramones, the Clash, or even Pop-Punk vetrans Green Day and Rancid, you'll love this album. It never breaks pace from Arboreal, going everywhere from the Willow's sympathies for Luna in a sing-songish tune, to a cover of 'Hey Micky' (with a Hogwarts twist). Never Say Die is a punk-core minute of, 'Holy shite!', and Thoughts on the Ministry is what everyone is thinking durring books 5-7. The closest thing to a breather is 'Tour Song', a song about... well, Touring. Ginny is a Punk Rocker is a salute to the Ramones (basically Sheena is a Punk Rocker cept if Johny and Dee Dee had been Hogwarts flunkies). And all I'll say is that Fang, Stop Peeing On My Trunk is worth buying the whole album.
