gypsies path

slcbbrown,

I've always admired Edith Piaf but haven't always appreciated her voice as it has been recorded. This CD is great for those who would like a well produced, true-to-the-original tribute by a fine singer. Le Chemin Des Forains (gypies path) is my favorite.

About Raquel Bitton

Raquel Bitton has been wowing audiences with her delicate French jazz singing since the early '80s, and this San Francisco native has impressed legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Tony Bennett. Most importantly, Bitton has taken on a global stance thanks to her stunning renditions of French chanteuse Edith Piaf. Her impeccable vocal beauty captured such '30s and '40s classics on her 1999 release Sings Edith Piaf, allowing Bitton to compose her work on a grand performance level. She expanded her work in song specifically in stage musicals and dramas such as Hearts: Le Ballet des Coeurs and Les Enfants du Paradis.

Bitton spent most of 2000 performing her hit show Raquel Bitton Sings Edith Piaf, Her Story…Her Songs at distinguished concert venues across North America, including a sold out opening night at Carnegie Hall. Her album roster also includes 1994's I Wish You Love and 1996's Changes. In a Jazzy Mood followed three years later. ~ MacKenzie Wilson
