Editors’ Notes

The release of Blackberry Smoke’s first live album is most welcome. Leave a Scar is a barnburner of a concert album that runs through the best of the Atlanta quintet’s material while flexing its muscle as a Southern rock/country/bluegrass ensemble. Dixie-fried stompers like “Sanctified Woman” and “Sleeping Dogs” are balanced by soulful shuffle tunes like “Everybody Knows She’s Mine” and rueful ballads like “One Horse Town.” The band’s playing is rowdy and full of funky embellishments, with guitarists Charlie Starr and Paul Jackson dishing out some of the tangiest licks this side of Skynyrd.

Customer Reviews

Even better live!

I've seen 7 BBS shows live, and have been waiting years for a live album! This is awesome!

A True Live Band!!!!!

In this modern day of studio created musician it is a rarity see a band sound better live in person than a studio recording. This band is one that does because they love what they do and there Dam good at it!!!!!

SPREAD THE SMOKE

This album was better than I expected. It immediately took me back to the two times that I have seen this amazing band in concert. All the hits with some special tributes worked into several of the songs that will have you jamming. One of the best live bands touring today.
