A wonderful score by James Newton Howard...
Academy Award nominated composer James Newton Howard's score for Michael Clayton, a legal drama with George Clooney, is very interesting. It reflects the tense nature of the world in which the film is set (prestigious Manhattan litigation) and its' urban setting. I would recommend purchasing the entire album and letting it thrill you, but if you want a single song which gives an indication of the entire project I would recommend "I'm Not the Guy You Kill" or "Times Square."
Where's The unorth theme song?
In the movie, there is a section during which Tom Wilkinson's character is leaving a voicemail for unorth corporate, over which he has dubbed a loop of the music for the unorth commercials, which is very cool. Where is that on this soundtrack? Did they not include it?
Another Solid Score By JNH.
I'll begin by saying that I love BIG ORCHESTRAL Howard. "King Kong." "Signs." "The Sixth Sense." Although more... Midi than his previous works, James Newton Howard makes the score for "Michael Clayton" work on many levels. It supports the film extremely well (adding tension in many cases where there isn't much on screen) and succeeds as stand-alone music as well by being melodic enough and yet without any specific theme to get hung up on. Recommend.
