Album Review

Nada Himalaya is one of the strongest meditation/healing discs of the '90s. Deuter lived and traveled in Asia for ten years and amassed a collection of Tibetan bowls and bells. The sonority of these bowls is absolute. The power is magnificent to the tenth power. Deuter is the veteran's veteran and has injected the spirit of his experiences into this CD. The extra attraction is the melody. Deuter designed the sound to serve as an ambient soundscape as well as a meditation focal point. This CD will appeal to fans of Dean Evenson, Thea Susaru, Life in Balance, and Klaus Wiese.

Customer Reviews

I have owned this album for about 10 years. I've had to purchase two copies since I play the CD so often that I scratched both copies. Terrific for quiet contemplation and meditation. Its haunting sounds quite literally take you off the planet; this is an extraordinary recording. It was out of print for awhile, so I'm really glad it's available again in an unscratchable MP3 format!

Nada Himalaya

These soundscapes are deep, soothing, sonorous and not at all superficial. It is impossible to judge them from thirty-second samples; there are is no vocal element, no beat at all, no "melody" to hold them together; just the clear sounds of the bells hanging and pulsing. If you are looking for music that will support you when you are meditating, when you are sick, when you need clarity, this is a good album to listen to, over and over.

Favorite meditation album

While working at a bookstore I received this cd as a demo, fell in love with it and was able to sell over a hundred of these. It became the number one seller for almost a year. Since, this album has always been one of my favorite meditation/sleep/listening cd's.

Like many artists in the contemporary instrumental realm, Deuter mixes acoustic and electronic instruments, ethnic influences, and sounds from nature -- only he's been doing it since the early '70s. Born in the German village of Falkenhagen, Deuter learned flute and taught himself to play guitar but was discouraged from pursuing music as a career. The trauma of a nearly fatal auto accident in 1970, however, motivated him to pursue his dreams. His first recording, D, was released on Kuckuck in 1971....
