Album Review

Until the release of 2005's Greatest Hits, 1989's Best Shots was the finest Pat Benatar collection, largely because it was the most concise. True, there may be a few lesser hits missing in favor of a couple newly recorded songs — "Sex as a Weapon," "Treat Me Right," "I Need a Lover," "Little Too Late," and "Looking for a Stranger" all could have made the cut instead of "Painted Desert" and "Outlaw Blues" — but the remainder of the disc is nearly flawless, delivering arena rock staples such as "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Fire and Ice," "Heartbreaker," "We Belong," "Invincible," and "All Fired Up" one after another. It may not be perfect, but it delivers enough thrills to make it all worthwhile.

This greatest hits collection is right up there with Bob Marley’s “Legend” as the definite collection of an artist everyone should own. With a single omission -you’ll have to download You Better Run elsewhere- this record has everything you need to savor Pat Benatar’s career. Pat Benatar’s music needs no introduction. If you never heard her before, you have been living under a rock. While a woman, the contemporary artist closest to her is Billy Idol (many would argue Joan Jett), both 80s superstar pop rockers. Back then, a greatest hits collection meant your career was pretty much done, and Benatar never really had a hit after this album. If you were born in the 90s, get ready to discover some gems (you should also try to find The Legend of Billie Jean, a movie that is Pat Benatar in spirit)

Great album!!

A CD Full of Great 80s Hits

This CD is packed with GREAT 80s hits including Heartbreaker, We Live For Love, Hell is For Children, We Belong ect. But one song, Invincible, should be on every Hunger Games soundtrack. I can't even listen to Invincible without thinking about the Hunger Games.

Pat Benatar's polished mainstream pop/rock made her one of the more popular female vocalists of the early '80s. Although she came on like an arena rocker with her power chords, tough sexuality, and powerful vocals, her music was straight pop/rock underneath all the bluster. Born Patricia Andrzejewski on January 10, 1953, in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the singer was raised in the nearby town of Lindenhurst on Long Island, New York. Benatar began singing regularly in the New York City area in the '70s,...
