iTunes Review

After the gigantic success of The Chronic, Doggy Style, and Dogg Food, the entire hip-hop nation was hypnotized by the sunny sounds of G Funk during the mid-'90s. One of its undisputed architects was Warren G, the man who introduced Snoop to Dr. Dre and also introduced the world to Nate Dogg with their timeless classic "Regulate." Also hailing from Long Beach, The Dove Shack (2Scoops, C-Knight, and Bo-Roc) first appeared on Warren's debut solo album and returned a year later with this, their own first album. As expected, the production is all deep bass grooves, wheezing keyboards, and extra-catchy beats, while the emcees rhyme pretty much exclusively about smoking, sippin', shooting, scoring, and repping for the Eastside of the LBC. While it never reached that classic status of its predecessors, this is still a fantastic album; it's a nice time warp for older heads who fondly remember that brief moment when G Funk ruled the world. Check out "This Is the Shack," "Summertime in the LBC," and "F*ck Da Mouth."

This Is It!

Why can't rap/hip-hop still be like this? Laid back, relaxing...reckoning! If rap/hip-hop still had this chill sound, I'd still be listening to it. I don't bother with rap that comes out now-a-days. A lot of rappers yell now, kind of like heavy metal, except to rap music. Nasty! This is what rap was all about. A few names to go with this: Warren G, Nate Dogg, classic Snoop Doggy Dogg, classic Dr. Dre, classic Ice Cube (after NWA, early solo careers). Early to mid-'90s held the very best rap/hip-hop of all time. The Dove Shack just made you want to get together with the homies and have a BBQ (Summertime in the LBC...the ultimate!). Music that you can listen to anytime...ESPECIALLY the SUMMERTIME!!!

This was Hip Hop

This is how HipHop sould be. One good album.

What Rap Should Be Like

Personally, I believe hip hip is almost dead. This is what rap should be like; hip hop needs to be resurrected.....before it really dies.

The trio introduced themselves in 1994 with "This Is the Shack," a track on Warren G's Regulate...G Funk Era that showcased their knack for hard verses and melodic choruses over laid-back, funk-laced productions.
