Album Review

The latter day group, doing slick, commercial white r&b-based pop-rock in a very low-priced reissue. The best of this material is on the Rhino anthology.

Temtation Eyes-The

Fooey-kazooey on re-recorded doo-doo. I fondly remember listening to my newly purchased LP, "Let's Live For Today" by the Grass Roots, way back when in the mid-to-late 60's. They had all their hits up to then, the title tune,"Tip of My Tongue", "Where Were You....", "Things I Should Have Said...", "Wake Up Baby" and many others.I played that album over and over. I loaned it out, and eventually wore it out. Too bad I can't replace it on itunes.

Feelins' track

This song embodies the sound of the 1960s...and although it did not recieve the radio play the some of the other tracks such as Temptation eyes got, it was featured in the 1968 comedy film "With Six You Get Eggroll" starring Doris Day and Brian Keith.

Great GR Introductory Album!!

I was born in 1969, and I heard these songs playing on a magnavox record changer back in the early 70's. I bought this cd from a mail order company that sold cd's VIA US Mail sometime around 1996. These are the original recordings, and they sound GREAT!! If you are new to oldies music, or if you are a die hard GR fan, start your collection with this album; then the Millenium Collection 20Th Century Masters, also available on I-Tunes.

The Grass Roots had a series of major hits -- most notably "Let's Live for Today," "Midnight Confessions," "Temptation Eyes," and "Two Divided by Love" -- that help define the essence of the era's best AM radio. Although the group's members weren't even close to being recognizable, and their in-house songwriting was next to irrelevant, the Grass Roots managed to chart 14 Top 40 hits, including seven gold singles and one platinum single, and two had hits collections that effortlessly went gold.
