Toxic

This is one of Britney Spears best songs, in my opinion. For a song this good, a remix should equal/exceed the greatness of the original work. Armand Van Helden offered an excellent yet oddly arranged remix of his song. With the type of sound pumping in nightclubs, Armand's remix is a stark departure from that type of sound. It is one of the most original sounding remixes that I believe I have ever heard. Yet, it still represents the sampled beat style that Armand Van Helden is known all over the world for. After listening to several of Lenny Bertoldo's remixes since I first heard his mixes for classics by Ace of Base and Real McCoy, I found this to be a bit of a break for his style. More of his remixes had a sound that would likely be considered NRG-House or Electro-Trance. This mix has more of a hard house feel. But, I still love it. And, since I lean toward more anthemic dance remixes, Felix da Housecat's mix really doesn't really reflect my tastes. The blockbuster success of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys certainly paved the way for her own commercial breakthrough, but Spears didn't just become a star -- she was a bona fide pop phenomenon. Not only did she sell millions of records, she was a media fixture regardless of what she was (or wasn't) doing; among female singers of the era (many of whom followed in her footsteps),...
