We released a new version of 1Password earlier this week and we've been hearing from you that there are a few rough edges. This update should grind those pointy bits down and make those rough edges more round. Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback!

Customer Reviews

An update that came quickly after the last one promising response to customers complaints did not live to its promise. The Safari extension still launches automatically and asks us to authorize through some web think that we know nothing about. Why is there suddenly a need to authorize through a web connection? It seems to me that we are being prepared gradually to discontinuing 1 Password sync through iCloud to using the developer own sync services (same like what happened with One Day and Omni Focus). This makes sense for the developer since 1 Password now runs on all major platforms, but for we Mac and iOS users want to keep iCloud sync. I wish that developers of Mac and iOS apps start charging annual subscription fees (which apple will supposedly enable soon) so thet dont have to abandon supporting their products in favor of expanding and adding more services to keep earning money (which they deserve). I have a feeling I will be looking for an alterantive to 1 Password soon.

I cannot imagine using a computer without 1Password.

There is simply no alternative to unique, strong, random passwords for using the web these days; and there is no alternative to a good password manager for using unique, strong, random passwords.

I know that there are alternatives; I haven’t used them; I just know that 1Password is astonishingly good.

I do let iCloud Keychain do most of my password filling, but the passwords come from 1Password in the first place. iCloud Keychain is much more limited in its password generation facilities and somewhat more limited in the web sites it can actually fill in passwords for; on the other hand, it supports apps other than web browsers better than 1Password. I regard 1Password and iCloud Keychain as complementary, not competitive. I’d be sad to give up either; but if I could only have one, it would unquestionably be 1Password.

Strong beginning

I loved 1Password when I orignally purchased it. Then, I was able to sync through drop box and access my information from any computer, as long as I logged into my drop box account. Now, you have to pay extra to have the syncing service (very dissapointing).

With the most recent update, and the bug fixed update, my Google Chrom 1Password extension no longer works. It’s there, but useless. So upset 1Password, I loved our time together, but it seems like your taking away all the things that I liked about you. I’ll be searching for a new application if there’s no fix to the Chrome extension soon.
