"Aera is the best flight simulator game in the App Store, and finally provides this wonderful experience to the everyday user."
"The flow of the game, along with the graphics are just beautiful. I have to say that Aera may be the first game of its kind that I think that I would want to fly around endlessly doing dogrolls and loops."

Essentially, Aera can be defined as casual 2.5D flight simulator.
Playing Aera is like riding a bicycle - you have to practice a little in the beginning, and than it's LOTS of fun.
This is flying game for everyone!!!
IMPORTANT: please unplug your iPhone/iPod from computer when playing Aera, otherwise game can freeze occasionally; this issue is being addressed, will be fixed in the update.
If you have problems with controlling the plane - do invert the controls from CONFIG
Cool concept, but too hard to be really fun
I think this game is kind of hard to describe. Some poeple say 2.5D but what does that really mean anyways? The way I would describe it is as a 2D side scroller flight "simulator" with realistic physics. What i mean by realisitc physics is that if you climb too fast, your plane will slow down or stall, and if you dive your plane will accelerate. You can only control up/down movement (side scroller) plus do barrel rolls. The game is fucused on completing objectives like flying through a course while avoiding mines and collecting tokens, or dogfighting an opponent. Think Pilotwings but in 2D. This game looks great, probably one of the nicest looking games on the iPhone. The biggest downside is that it's too hard. After beating a few of the campaign levels, I found myself stuck on a level where I was supposed to maneuver my plane around a course designated by a path of mines, while collecting some sort of tokens. The goal was to make it through the course while collecting a certain number of tokens without crashing too many times. As many times as I try, I cannot make it through this level without crashing. Eventually, trying to finish the level got boring and I sort of lost interest in the game. To be honest, if the price is <$5, I think it is worth trying it out. It's a unique game, looks great, and it's fun to play until you get stuck.
Really fun and different!
Worth the wait, kinda! I never knew what 2.5 D meant compared to 3D. Well I get it now: this game looks 3D and is extremely well done but you move in a linear trajectory only. You fly up down and do loops etc. But you can't bank left or right. You miss that and wonder why that wasn't built in. The graphics and game play are infinitely better than the game F.A.S.T (that game is for whatever reason highly praised but ridiculously difficult, hence instantly forgettable) but unlike that game Aera doesn't let you bank sideways. Maybe an update will fix that.
Okay, graphics on hhis game: sweet...but, yes there is a but for a stickler like me: the graphics need more polish. You can't tell from the Aera trailer where the gameplay and colors blow you away but the actual graphics look grainy. The edges of the plane and the earth below needs more definition. You see the fine jagged edges and that's tacky. There isnt artistry of the kind we've come to expect. The developer needs to look at the game "Blimp: the flying adventures" for truely artistic superfine polished graphics. That game is visually stunning. I was dissapointed here on that score but it is still really forgiveable because the design is nonetheless pretty.
Gameplay is sweet. The camera angles are nice feature and the free flying is fantastic for mastering the physics. This game could be a 5/5 if they just put a little more into it.
The game is awesome. The graphics are excellent. And the controls are really good. There is a steep learning curve in the game when it comes to the controls which makes the game that much more enjoyable at least for me because it gives the game a lot of replay value since you have to learn how to fly the plane. The use of the phone's functions are used differently then all the other flying games which makes it very interesting to play. This game is not a type of game that you pick up and master the controls as soon as you open the app. Also unlike the other flying games this game keeps the player in constant control. I'm glad that this game is the way it is and tends to break the same old trend that I am used to playing. Overall this game brings lots of fun as well as skill. This is a must buy specially for the price. Check out the videos if you have any doubts trust me it won't disapoint.
