The AIAA Aerospace Design Engineers Guide (ADEG) is an authoritative resource for use by aerospace students and professionals during design inception and development.

Now in its first electronic edition, the ADEG app provides quick, convenient everyday reference from your mobile device. Its role is to serve as a specialized-purpose, in-field tool used by design engineers to perform back-of-the-envelope/rough-order-of-magnitude estimates and calculations for early preliminary and conceptual aerospace design. The ADEG app is not intended to be relied upon for producing highly detailed production designs, although some of the design data may be suitable for the designer’s objectives.

The app allows users to create and save notes. To create a note, tap and hold over a specific word or sentence (must be text). A pop-up menu will appear. Choose “Add Notes” to add a note. To retrieve or update an existing note, go to the Notes section on the app’s homepage. Choose the specific category and tap on the “Notes” icon that appears with the associated text to read/update. Notes will not work when trying to apply a note to an image. Images can be tables, formulas or graphs.

The app allows you to bookmark specific pages. To bookmark a page, tap the star icon at the top of that page. To retrieve bookmarked pages, go to the Bookmark section on the app’s homepage.

Images (tables, graphs and formulas) can be magnified by tapping on the image (a new window will open) and using Apple’s pinch-to-zoom functionality.

The AIAA Aerospace Design Engineers Guide, Sixth Edition print book and the ADEG app are developed and edited by the Design Guide Subcommittee of the AIAA Design Engineering Technical Committee. Lead editors for the sixth edition are Charles R. Dauwalter, consultant/retired, Draper Laboratories and E. Russ Althof, Raytheon Company.

Today, with more than 30,000 members, AIAA is the world's largest professional society devoted to the progress of engineering and science in aviation, space, and defense. The Institute continues to be the principal voice, information resource, and publisher for aerospace engineers, scientists, managers, policymakers, students, and educators.

Great Idea and Content but Crashes

Big Ghetto James

This app is a great idea and "go-to" guide that you will always have with you. From what I was able to view, it contains great content (nomenclature, definitions, equations, etc.). However, upon trying to open the pages for many of the subjects, the app crashes. Maybe it's just my phone, but if that is fixed, I'd give it 5 stars.

Consistently crashes when attempting to move to Orbital Mechanics.

Indeed - a valuable source for the student - but a contenting exercise for me “Orbital Mechanics” is unavailable. The app will crash when attempting to view that section. I have an iPod Touch 5 generation with current software: iOS 7.0.4

Crashing app

It's a very informative app but as "Big Ghetto James" implies, it DOES indeed crash when searching subjects. Please fix. Otherwise great app.
