Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger uses AirWX. Shouldn't you?

Sully: "...AirWX app is a tool that pilots use to get detailed aviation weather reports and forecasts, but it's also useful for the general public to check weather at departure and arrival airports because the reports are decoded into plain language." Ratings and Reviews

Absolutely outstanding. My favorite aviation weather app

Blubar-checker

I have been using this app for years. As a airline Captain and Line Check Airman this is my “go to” app for aviation weather. I use this to supplement dispatch weather and NOTAMS. This app is user friendly, intuitive and accurate. My strongest recommendation.

Ridiculous!

GeeDadReally

Items that were once features were removed by the new developer six months ago. We complained. Now those items are back as IAPs... and we're supposed to rejoice our good fortune?!? No thanks.

Developer Response

Approach Charts weren't in the app for at least 2-3 years. They were removed way before we released the new version of AirWX because of the cost associated with providing them. We are charging for them right now because they cost us money to provide to you. I assure you we make no profit from the $10/year we charge for them. Server costs and man power required to maintain the monthly updates add up. If you are unhappy, there are other apps out there that charge hundreds a year and provide the same data.

A fantastic start!

This is a fantastic program that is exactly as advertised--it gives a pilot METARs. The author seems to have experience with other features (e.g. TAFs, Radar, Airport Info, etc.) using mobile phone browser technology; I trust he will bring this experience to this phenomenal new iPhone platform so that pilots, like me, will benefit. This program, even though it only checks METARs now is worth every bit of 2 whole dollars. It will be worth more when he adds the other features. There is no reason he should spend his time working on delivering these benefits to us for free.

Another reviewer questioned why people who haven't purchased the programs are allowed to write reviews. It's a good question. But I didn't see where that reviewer actually said anything meaningful about this particular program, a review he was actually supposed to be writing. Did you like it? Well, I did. It's wonderfully simple, useful, and I look forward to more from this author and others like him.
