# ANIMATED LIGHT SCENES
What is a color-changing animation? Carefully chosen colors, hues, shades, duration, transitions that change the colors of your bulbs and coordinate well together.
# LIGHTING LIBRARY
You can find nearly 50 beautifully designed light scenes. Our unique scenes are made for 6 different moods — Relaxing, Sleeping, Romantic, Party, Working, Winter. We start with artist-sourced photos as our palette and then create a scenario for each scene. The Lighting Library has been growing since it was introduced.
# SIMPLICITY & BEAUTY
Every piece of art should be beautiful. Every technology should be useful. That’s why we created Ambee. Philips hue was missing a truly magical ambiance tool that would be easily used but still remained beautiful — until now.
Enjoy your new home!

Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful app, with one big flaw
I've really enjoyed this app! The preset animations are creative and beautiful, and I really appreciate the text description for brightness, speed, and other details of animations. However, one detail (okay, maybe two) have moved me to lower my star rating. As a developer myself, I don't see these being that difficult to implement, and should they do so, I'll definitely revisit my review:
1) Preset previews ignore your chosen light group, instead playing animations on every hue bulb on the hub. This is aggravating to say the least, particularly when my partner is in the bath and gets the lights randomly brightening or turning off. Has happened several times, and has gotten to the point where I'm afraid to use this app because I can't trust when it will or won't use my chosen light group. A simple solution that makes sense, to me anyway, is to play the preview on the chosen light group.
2) there's no way to choose a default light group for the app; instead it defaults to All Lights whenever you start it up. And then I forget to change it, and, well, you see the effects in the previous bullet.
I want to love and use this app, I really do. But I need to be able to trust and know what to expect from apps that have control over things like lighting. Please do something about these things so I can give you the 5 stars you deserve!
Thanks a lot, Benji, for your wonderful feedback. Let me respond with a few details about your points.
First, it looks like the 2 points are correlated.
2.) This one is coming in the next update. The app will remember the last used room and will always start with that room. What you can do in the meantime is to change a different default light group by going to Settings and change it there:
a. Tap on a light group
b. Tap on the Settings icon in the upper right corner
c. Tap on the Light Zones settings
d. And then just hold and drag a different light zone as the first (top) one
e. You can even delete any light zone (e.g. the All Lights one) by swiping from the right part of the screen as you would in the iPhone Settings
1.) Actually, previews play only in the light group that is selected but in cases when there is default light group selected (All Lights), it will obviously play in that light zone.
I hope, my comment was helpful, but in any case, if you run into any issues or you need help, please reach me out here: email@example.com

Top 3 apps for Phillips Hue, my personal fav
I love the app but two things really bug me, you can't turn the brightness down as far as in other apps like iConnectHue or Thorlight or the Phillips native app and you can't control individual lights within Ambee.
I love the scenes but the app is difficult to navigate if you have a lot of scenes like I do, the first priority going forward should be to fix the crummy navigation. Tom seems to be putting his best foot forward though so I’ll still give it 4 stars.
To Tom: That would make more sense if i were to be asking for the lights to be brighter, but your night time ambiences don’t get as dim as other apps. Meaning i can’t turn the brightness DOWN (not trying to be rude but just place emphasis) as much as i would need to sleep comfortably. It doesn’t seem like that’s something that would be intentional. But even if it were, I’d like to the ability to decide how bright id like an animation to be even if it’s meant to be a sleep scene. As a customer I’d like to be able to control that.
Again, thanks a lot for your feedback, our friend :) You're right. The navigation gets clumsy with many animations. We will address this in the next major update Ambee 2.0 — (hopefully) later this year. It will be a big and great upgrade - the complete redesign of My Collection part.
As for the brightness, originally we didn't want to implement it at all. Our goal is to keep the intention of each Light Animation. Some scenes are working and therefore shouldn't be used at low brightness. Some animations are great for relaxing or just before sleeping, therefore shouldn't be very bright. What we decided to do is to enable brightness adjustment within a level of keeping the intention of each animation/scenes. I hope it makes sense.
To YoungHundred: Thanks for clarifying your point. Got it. We'll keep in mind for the future redesigns of the animations and control of them.

Can't be used without email or Facebook login
You are required to set up an account linked to your factbook or email before even being allowed to test this App. Since there is no practical reason to require information on either of these, I assume that it's just collected for future marketing use. The developer claimed that it's so they can link your settings to multiple devices, but that's nonsense too. If you genuinely need to provide such information upfront for this app to function, then it just speaks to the poor design quality of the app. Given that there is no choice but to provide identifying information, the only logical reason is to use said info for marketing. Ok, it's a free app, and developers need to make money somehow. But then be honest about it. A developer who won't even be honest about the intended use of your personal data can't be trusted to provide ethical solutions. Since I have no interest in being bombarded with spam, I deleted the app without ever testing it. Review is based solely on my dislike for unnecessary requests for information, not based on the functionality or quality of the app.
We are very sorry for your disappointment. We need to register your account, so all of your settings, animations, light zones can be saved and synchronized for you no matter what device you use, or when you use it (even after reinstalling the app). For instance, if you decided to reinstall the app, you would find all of your settings saved, which many users find convenient. So, while I know it's not ideal in the first step, it's there to make sure you have a smooth experience at all times (once you already have the account).
As for our intention, we want to be very clear. We want to provide the most exciting experience for the Hue users. We wouldn't be able to do it without the funds, so the app is freemium. Once you sign up, you get some free credits to fill your collection with some great light animations. If you run out of credits, you can purchase more.
I hope, our model is more clear now.
Thanks for your understanding. We are doing the best we can. Sometimes providing some information on your side is helpful and more convenient for you but we obviously respect your decision not to register.
All the best,
Tomas, founder of Ambee.
