What one would call the perfect app.
Not much to say except that this app helps educate everyday on things I never even thought about researching which has opened so many doors of opportunity for me. I can't express my gratitude enough for the team who made this. You're making the world a better place. That said, the format from the previous version (the left right orientation instead of only vertical scrolling) was far superior to the new one as it felt more sophisticated in the sense that there were separate packets of information for each day instead of monotonous scrolling. If you would, please change it back to make this an even more perfect app.
September Update: Each new update to the app brings ever helpful and ever ingenious number of changes to make the overall experience much more engaging. And I feel bad for not mentioning this in my earlier review but you get the feeling that the writing team for each article is straight out of Harvard with their ability to display playfulness, nerdiness, and an excessive (and welcome) amount of curiosity that makes reading even dull subjects engaging and fun. However, while this app still is making huge leaps forward each update, they still need to change the monotonous scrolling for daily news that was mentioned before as it is easily the most detrimental part of the app. Overall though, this team is somehow succeeding in bringing new innovations that somehow make this perfect app even more perfect.
Great idea but something feels off.
Love the concept of curiosity, but every time I’m actually in the app something feels off. I wasn’t going to say anything because I assumed they were all problems you guys had seen already and would patch up soon, but it’s been a few months and nothing has changed.
The main problem I’ve noticed is that scrolling through the main tab is super jerky and sometimes gets “caught” and doesn’t respond when I try to scroll to the next item, causing me to have to swipe a second time to scroll down.
Other than that I’ve also had the app get stuck in landscape orientation once or twice, had my phone get really hot while using the app a few times, and noticed other minor glitches here and there.
Nothing major, but I’ve noticed these problems (particularly with scrolling through the feed) enough that I rarely even open the app anymore, and when I do I never really get caught up in the app like I do on Instagram or Facebook. I think the glitchy nature of the app almost pulls my focus from the content of the app to the Experience / Interface of the app, which is never a good thing.
Maybe consider not using a paging scroll? I’m guessing that’s at least part of the problem with the jerkiness, plus with being so used to continuous scrolling feeds like Instagram/Facebook etc. it just feels kind of awkward.
What I wouldn’t do for Curiosity
Let me first and foremost begin to speak the many ways that this lovely app has made my life so much more interesting, while I love reading upon new, interesting, quirky, weird, odd articles and topics, Curiosity gave me a reason to want to learn even more everyday and every single second. The intuitive app, gives your eyes something and exciting to feast upon, while agreeing with others on the monotonous scrolling options, Developers may I highly suggest giving us faithful users both options of scrolling, upon setup the interface will ask the user what scrolling option would they most prefer, maybe that solves a much debated question? Hopefully it can be implemented if possible!!!
