Great idea, poor follow
Idea is wonderful, still new to it myself but it needs more people posting meals. The more the people, the more diverse options available on demand, feels pretty limited right now. I would like the option to have my own recipes on certain days that haven’t been posted to cyber space for the grocery tool, but I don’t think other than writing things into the grocery list and the title on the day it’s an option, even then, I don’t know how to add those things yet. This app is promoted by just a few that I follow on Instagram and not a single one of them has a full menu planned out, so you can see the variety of options feeling even more limited when the creators themselves aren’t using it to its full potential. I also have issues opening up the boards on people I follow. It will say they have +X (whatever value of recipes) and it’s not opening. Sometimes I can get one to open but then I can’t get the next one to open. I’ll give it a little more time but as it is, it’s not as great as it could and should be.
I hope it gets better
The idea is solid but it needs a bigger following. The foods are very “standard American diet”, and lack diversity in recipes and preparation. Navajo tacos or Hawaiian haystacks is not true diversity. Hopefully, once the bulk of the followers are outside of Utah, the app will have a richer, more diverse listing.
Also, if you know exactly what you want, this app can give you a recipe, but browsing by ingredients fails hard compared to Pinterest. I typed in “ground beef” and was shown 37 recipes, mostly repeats, with no option to keep scrolling.
I think the shopping list is great, but searching Pinterest and exporting my recipes into this app is tedious. I hope that as more people join and import their recipes, it gets better. I’ll keep it on my phone and check back next month.
Developer Response ,
First off, thank you for your candid feedback. It is really helpful for us to hear from users about the challenges they are encountering with the app, and we are very committed to making the app as useful, intuitive, and simple as we can. In the time since you wrote this review we have completely revamped our search function. It is much faster, much more comprehensive, and overall more powerful in helping users find recipes. A search for "ground beef" now returns over 10k matching recipes, which is obviously a little overwhelming, so another thing we have done is to make sure that the matching recipes that have been tried and recommended by you and/or those you follow in the app are shown at the top of the results. We now have over 400k unique recipes in the database and growing every day. Please take a look at the latest and let us know what you think!
Life changing app!
Meal planning has always being so hard for me, Favoreats made it so easy that I’m actually excited about meal planning every week! The fact that I can import the recipes I love from Pinterest, see what recipes my friends like it, and have a grocery list in the same place is AMAZING! The way the app works is so easy that you won’t take long to figure it out! Which is awesome because people in my family that are not very techie are using it and loving it! And that way I can have access to their amazing recipes and use it in my meal plan! Love it!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
