Customer Reviews

Pesky, but useful

Waze

Pros:

It quickly updates when a new road is built

At navigates you around traffic more than Google Maps

It warns you of police who have been reported by other drivers

It warns you about red light cameras

Cons:

Twice now, I’ve entered a destination then it takes me somewhere else instead. It gives no indication where it will take you it just starts and shows no and address.

When you arrive at an address it does not leave the destination on the screen. So if you forget the address number, you have to open up Waze and look for your previous search

Sometimes Waze does not remember a previous search even right after you type it in

“Watch out. Vehicle stopped on shoulder ahead.” Except the vehicle is 30 feet off onto the shoulder but people report it because they want “points.”

Sometimes it’s too late by the time it tells you to exit.

When you report an obstacle in the road or a police officer at Marks the Spot way past when you actually press the button to start the report

It says “leftuh” “straightuh” and sometimes “rightuh”

It does not auto fill when I type in an address of a place I have already favorited... Even if I put the whole number of the address.

It asks you if you were the driver or passenger as if it will stop you from texting and driving. It’s just an extra click... an extra distraction.

Disappointing usability, data/power consumption

I was shocked at basic usability missteps. At about the one mile mark, it said something like "in one mile, take the exit", without telling us which exit, since of course there are at least two at the exchange. Fortunately, we knew where we were going, as this was just a test, but it's insane to warn about an exit without at least an exit number or direction.

Then, with a simple test at home, I realized the bloody app kept using location, and hence battery, even when I'm not using it for directions and not running it. Neither Apple maps nor google maps does that. That's either stupid programming or some selfish reason. But I keep my costs down and maximize battery power by never using data unexpectedly. Worse, there's no obvious way to tell it to stop using location. I had to force shut the app the first few times. Eventually I found it, but it's stupid. When permissions are set to only when running, and I'm not getting directions, it's supposed to stop use location to respect the privacy settings.

Time To Leave Notification Not Working

I loved this feature whenever I’d “Plan A Trip”. It would send me a phone notification letting me know it was time to leave and if traffic built up it would let me know if I had to leave earlier with a notification. But ever since I got the new iPhone 8 and have all the new iOS updates I haven’t received any notifications. I’ve tried deleting the app to fix this glitch and also made sure the notification feature is turn on in both the app and on my phone settings and still no “Time To Leave” notification come through. I do receive other notification from the app but just not the “Time To Leave” notifications. Please fix this glitch so I can use this app to its full ability please! Thx
