Apple going down in flames
My prediction (based on current level of product quality, product compatibility, and product cost) is that Apple will go down in flames in the next few years. Two things could help avoid this (but their ego will most likely prevent them from acting on them)
1). Get rid of their stupid proprietary BS. Amazing the amount of market share they have lost because consumers are tired of being forced into the overpriced and low quality goods that Apple is now producing because they are cornered into the "i" exclusivity. I've bought my last $700 iPhone. Galaxy is looking good inspite of battery. Apples best bet is to develop software to create compatibility between their product and rest of world. The quality of computer software developers in mainstream America indicates that I will have no problem finding software from rogue developers that will allow me to transition away from "i" bs and not lose my apps or tunes when I buy my next phone from somebody else.
2) hire better quality software developers. Good grief, this last software upgrade was pathetic. It's a shame apple has no clue what their customer base needs
Where to make a Genius Bar appointment???
Since Apple hasn't brought back the Genius Bar I've deleted the app. If Apple elimates the 3.5 earphone jack it will be time to think about eliminating the iPhone. Nice work Timmy Cook.
Yet another HUGE mistake under the Tim Cook reign: cutting back on customer service. The previous version of this app's best feature was the easy ability to make an appointment at the Genius Bar. Now that feature is gone. Apple is apparently trying to shift customers away from having face to face support and would rather shift customers to online support. Really??? Given the fact that Apple products continue to lose ground to their competition in every category the one differential that keeps many of us loyal is the ability to realitivly easy was to meet with a friendly knowledgeable expert that fixes issues with the product. After nearly two decades as an Apple enthusiast I am getting ready to bounce to Samsung for my first non-Apple smartphone, especially if the 3.5 earphone jack disappears.
No longer helpful
Several years and several iPhones ago, I downloaded this app to schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store. It was easy to use for scheduling as well as canceling and/or rescheduling appointments. I tried to schedule an appointment through the app today and after going through all the menus/questions, my options were to send my phone in by mail, call support, schedule a call with support or chat with support. I chose the chat option & the rep offered to schedule the appointment. I inquired & he confirmed that the app can no longer be used to schedule/manage appointments. He then explained I could schedule an Genius Bar appointment through the Apple website. Something I could previously complete within a couple of minutes took about an hour. Major inconvenience. Deleting this app.
