Slow, glitchy, and this redesign :(

I didn’t update gmail in a while, and when I finally did, I thought things would run smoother, but then I get this weird redesign.
The redesign makes it difficult to know which email account you’re using and makes it more convoluted to switch accounts. They also made the font in the app smaller so it’s harder to read. Overall, I think it’s just messy. Maybe I’m just not used to it yet, but I think this redesign makes the app harder to use. And with the redesign, the app reset my original settings on swiping to archive or delete which was just annoying.
Plus, as I try to write emails, I keep getting the notification “some changes may not have saved” or something like that, and it would pop up every few seconds, making my email infuriating to write.
My inbox takes longer to load now too with the redesign, and sometimes my notifications don’t go through, but that might be because of my phone, not the app.
I don’t know, it just feels like gmail’s getting worse. I wish they would stop trying to put in all these new features like Google Pay in emails, and just aim to make the app comfortable to use... Trying to attach multiple files in an email on mobile is so tedious.

Trash compared to Inbox

The new layout is decent for an app but nowhere near as good as inbox’s design was. Where are my bundles? Inbox grouped all my similar emails together in perfect bundles. AUTOMATICALLY let me add! It put all my travel stuff together and showed me all the relevant information without having to open my emails and now I have to dig through every single one of my emails to find the one I’m looking for. My emails that used to be in a purchased section no longer have a track item button, so now I’ve got to scroll through all my emails to find my purchase and open the email and look for the link to track. Gmail doesn’t care at all about productivity, things that literally used to be one press in inbox have become a multi step process.
Now I’m getting notifications for every single email I receive with no way to change that, somehow inbox knew which emails were important and which were not and it would only notify me over important emails. So now any piece of spam that comes through pings my phone, thanks google....
I could go on and on about how terrible gmail is compared to inbox but I’ll let the others of hundred of people starting to leave reviews to help out.
Bring back Inbox or bring this up to par with it. And don’t even get me started on the web client for gmail vs the web client for inbox!

Such a cluttered mess

Google just shut down Inbox which no matter what you think, it was much simpler and organized so much better than gmail. I knew it right away when I first tried it. Now I just go into Gmail first time in years and instantly remember the hatred I have for this garbage. Why the heck can you not bundle into your own folders? I could care less about tags if a tag is a stupid filter.. I created filters to group everything from a specific company into a single folder, Inbox did it perfectly, Gmail being a giant app doesn’t know how to manage that? It’s absolutely horrendous. And there’s a tag for “Inbox” but there’s nothing to select on the side menu for “Inbox”, it’s just Primary, Social, Promotions & Update.... where’s Inbox?????? Why can’t I select everything in inbox??? And speaking of which... now I have a lovely 245 notification on the app, wth... everything was grouped in Inbox so I never got a notification number unless it was from someone directly, not a company.. which was great. Now I feel like I’m using an ad filled apple mail... I deleted my apple mail access bc I hated it so much. I don’t know what’s worse now... you really screwed the pooch google, I loathe using your Gmail in every use case. I’d rather you send me back to 2005 Gmail....
