Audiobooks Makes My Morning Commute Easy!
I’m from Houston, and traffic is a pain. Every morning, I drive at least an hour and 15-30 mins to work, and I drive the same back. So I spend about 3hrs in the car JUST driving to and from work. Before I found Audiobooks, I listened to Podcasts. I started having trouble finding ones I liked, or the ones I liked didn’t update enough to meet the needs of my 3hrs daily. So I downloaded Audiobooks because I saw some were 10+ hours long, and I love to read anyway. I got the book, “The Glass Castle” because I feel like although I prefer reading myself, I like when people tell stories, so I could listen to a personal narrative without wanting to be reading a physical book. After the first part of my commute the first day, I was so thankful I downloaded it! I’m definitely going to keep at it. At this rate, I’ll listen to a book once every 3-4 days, so I have to find a way to afford it. That’s the only downside. I purchase a lot of books in print, and I wish they came with automatic downloads or something. In the meantime, I’m going to try to get as many credits as I can to make it cost efficient for me.
I am a new consumer for all audio books due to a long commute for a new job a minimum of an hour away that I stared in January. There were two stand out companies Audiobooks and Audible! On July 29th, I decided to try both for the free trail to complete my decision. Each stating a monthly credit for a book to be given monthly. Well my Decision has been made!
During my free trial I purchased an additional book on each site. Prices and sound both comparable. Maybe I would keep both since I went through 5 books already!!! It is now September 6th and I have finished all my free trial books and purchased books. To my dismay there was no credit on my audio books account. I checked audible and yes it was there. I double checked my history and I was right July 29th. Where is my credit? I was told through chat support that because I purchased a book it started my membership on that day and not the day I started my free membership. What? So I don’t get my free credit because I purchased a book? Didn’t really make sense to me! But Eric through chat support said it made sense to him sense my membership officially started on that day August 18th. I would have to wait until September 18th for my credit. Great customer service!! Well audio books you made my decision for me! And yes I already cancelled my membership!
Good App and straight forward business model
I recently switched back to Audiobooks from another similar service/app. The other one was cheaper, but it turns out you get what you pay for. Other service randomly denied the books I was right in the middle of and took a few days to fix the issue that came with an update. The other part that really drove me away was I had banked up a few credits, as I listen to about 1 book in a little over a month, I had the service stop charging me so I could catch up. They cut off my whole service in the process. I had to keep my service charging me to finish the book I was in the middle of and then leave a credit behind when I left their service. Audiobooks has never cut me off mid book. Their business model views credits you’ve purchased as yours and honors their use regardless of whether you commit to remaining a customer. I will gladly pay the extra few dollars a month for that level of service to finish the series I’m halfway through, The Sword of Truth (I’m up to Chainfire now).
