Compare function barely functions

This app is really designed only for Workshare’s collaboration platform, with the compare function relegated to a poorly-conceived function buried deep in the menus.

I am a lawyer, I need powerful document blacklining software, and I buy Workshare for the compare function. I don’t need the mobile app for any of its features, except comparison. But the compare function doesn’t really function.

First, to compare two docs, you have to transfer them into Workshare, which is painfully inefficient. Why can’t you just compare two docs that are in Dropbox folders? Or Files? Workshare assumes that users use it primarily as a collaboration and doc storage system, which seems strange to me, since Workshare’s competitive advantage is doc comparison software.

Having finally copied two docs into Workshare, you can then compare them. But there is no option for identifying the original version and the revised version. Workshare seems to assume that the file most recently saved is more recent. But since you have to copy the two files into Workshare, this could be either file. I can’t figure out how to get around this.

This app is simply disappointing, and not fit for purpose. Unless the purpose is to force users to buy and use Workshare Connect, in order to make the app work. Doesn’t seem like a good business plan to me. And it’s not good for the user.

Does not integrate with iOS 11’s File App

Overall a great mobile application for the workshare platform. Contrary to the latest release notes, however, this application is not compatible with iOS 11’s systemwide File App. Moving files into Workshare on iOS is also cumbersome. All files opened in workshare end up in a “saved from mobile” folder and subsequently must be moved into the existing file structure - necessitating additional (and unnecessary) steps. Additionally, there is no way to add a new version of an existing file via the mobile application. Since one of the fundamental features of Workshare is version control and comparison, this omission is odd.

Great file sharing and collaboration app

Allows you to view and compare different versions of your documents. You can also leave comments on a document. Perfect for sharing files you need to collaborate on.
