Chili's
Buffalo Wild Wings
First Watch
Texas Roadhouse
The Original Pancake House
...and thousands more local restaurants near you!

*Nowait doesn’t actually turn you into a wizard, though we would argue it’s close.

A Truthful Review

Considering I work for a restaurant that uses this app and I, myself, use it several times a week, it makes me upset to see so many bad reviews. Let me break down something real quick for people who don't know how this works: The accuracy of the estimated wait time is dependent on two things...the host who sets it and the people sitting at the tables. The app estimates time itself, but depending on how fast you flip tables, that can be drastically different than actual wait times. For my restaurant, we reduce the estimated wait times by a couple minutes for more accurate times. This app takes some getting used to and if your staff doesn't take it seriously or doesn't test it out, it can be destructive to your restaurant. It also doesn't work for some places, considering the abundance of "campers" or people who relax at their table long after finishing their meal. This messes with your wait times...and hosts want to get you in just as fast as you want to get in. Flipping tables quickly = $$$, so don't think that the app or hosts WANT you to wait.

Give the app a chance and test it out. Take it seriously and it'll be amazingly helpful for everyone involved. :)

Only as useful as the restaurant is truthful

It's a nice concept and the app is pretty and easy to use but it has a fatal flaw. It is only as useful as the data it has been provided by the restaurant that is using it. If the restaurant isn't updating their data or reporting a wait, so that you can place yourself in line, the app is useless. I downloaded the app after deciding we wanted to meet some friends in Ann Arbor at Grizzly Peak Brewing Company and noting that they had a link to the app on their website. You couldn't put yourself in line until within 25 miles of the restaurant. Once we were in A2 I checked the app and saw "Currently no wait. Come on in." I cycled my phone to make certain it knew my GPS data had changed and had current information. I got the same information. Walked down to the restaurant to discover a 90 minute wait. Booked a reservation on Open Table at another local restaurant and went there instead.

Often Wrong Wait Time

The app is a good idea but I have found the wait time is often wrong. The past few weeks I've checked into our favorite pizza place and when we arrived we're told the wait was 20-30 minutes longer than the app said. Another time it showed a 25 minute wait so I checked in as we drove there only to get a text 5 minutes later saying the table was ready. We had to call the restaurant and just made it there before they gave the table away.

Recently we've had it go in the other direction. Because the app said 7-17 minutes we held off getting in line because of the prior experiences. When we got in line the wait was an hour! Very inconsistent and annoying!
