Tako Words helps you study Japanese words as you find them.
Hear a word you don't know? Look it up in the dictionary, and tap to add it to your My Words list.
Can't remember the word later? Take a glance at your most recently added words.
Keep forgetting the same words? The words you've added will automatically become flashcards. Flashcards will come up again when you're most likely to forget them, strengthening them in your memory.
Stay engaged with the words that you need to know, and study more efficiently.
- You can now study flashcards on the Apple Watch
- A new complication displays the next flashcard on the Apple Watch
- When you have copied something from another app, you can now paste and search for it in the dictionary with one tap
- After all words due today have been scored, you can choose to continue studying all the words with your currently selected tags
- Can filter words matching any tags selected, in addition to matching all tags
- When you use words you have already added in your notes, they will be highlighted. Tapping them will open their details.

Best Iwatch Japanese learning app so far
This is my favorite app tied with anki! Because it really can go beyond beginner level (konnicha those kind of less than 5 words phrases where it’s completely useless when you are jlpt2+)
Anki helps me learn any new word I might need to know/ review old words.
this one will allow me to learn words at a slower pace, but these words will stick around easier because ideally you only add ones you actually come across in real life (and your brain is better at memorizing those then pure flash card)
I personally wish it also had the definition in Japanese so it is even more immersive, but that’s not as important as I’m currently having trouble finding how to use the flash card mode on my iwatch. (Like on the first picture of the iwatch Apple store)
Disclaimer: I have only used it for 1 hour but I have always knew if I like an app right from the get go. (Only have 3 apps that I regularly use and this will be one of them!)
I have tried 101, drop, and some other, but only anki/ iwatch can effectively help you level up after the beginner phase.
The word set is pretty complete for everyday language: I have found slangs that my friends just taught me, which is a huge plus!
Efficient and straight to the point
This app is exactly what I was looking for to use my Apple Watch to study vocab. It’s been fun to add words using the built in dictionary - which is very complete.
I also think it has a lot of potential, especially now that it seems the app is getting more frequent updates. I’ll definitely keep using it to see what new features will be installed.
Just one thing is that since I added a bunch of new words to the iPhone app these new ones still hasn’t been synced with the Apple Watch list, even though I tried turning it off and on again.
I’d appreciate being able to export my list, even if it’s in a text file, so that I can keep track of my words even if something happens to the app.
Great work though, I definitely recommend it!!
