Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. If you have a limited data plan, its recommended to download over a WiFi network.
++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle.
** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine.
GyPSy Guide™ produce award winning audio tours along scenic drives around the world. Enjoyed by travelers who prefer to set their own pace and itinerary on vacation, but enjoy a fun, informative and educational guided experience. Our goal is to provide a great introduction to the region and perhaps inspire you to learn more and return. None of our apps include paid advertising or placements for benefit.
* Updated tour content.
* Tour will now keep playing in the background even if you use other apps.
* Tour will also keep playing if you turn the screen off (not shut down of course!) and will help save battery if you do not have a cigarette lighter-style of car charger with you.
* You can play your own music in the background and the tour commentary will decease music volume to play audio commentary.
Ratings and Reviews
Well worth it.
This was great. We had no idea what to expect in the park. We were very happy with the way it was all put together. The only problem was we
Couldn’t tell if it was running when we got back in the car till we hit a audio point. Just made sure app was open after we got back into the car. Wish everyone knew about the app that was in the park. I could hear people asking/talking about things in the park that we knew the answers because of the app.
Really enjoyable audio tour
Ran across this app in a local paper while we were figuring out things to do in Moab. This was a really enjoyable audio tour and the narration is excellent. You usually get monotone narrators with audio tours, but this was very well read. The tour follows your location and is perfectly timed. The tour also includes very interesting facts about the area and local legends. I would definitely recommend using these for all national parks tours (or at least the ones that are available).
Tours were too expensive, terribly time limited and at the mercy of the leader’s personality style. GyPSy Guide solves all those problems with affordability, perfect timing and a delightful, vetted, well informed guide. The app led me to the right places, told me what to expect at each stop and fed me wonderful, compelling historical and geological facts. I LOVE this app and can’t wait until all the national parks are available online. I am a grandmother making the trek alone. This is the way to travel.
