Ratings and Reviews
It kills time, unless you want to play more than 30 mins or so at once
Unlike meatworld Boggle, after a year of play, I've concluded that there's just not that much of a variety of words you ever get the opportunity to play in this app. It punishes you for playing "too much" and forces you to buy tickets or coins to keep on playing--or wait it out. I get that they make money off in-app purchases, but you also have to sit through a constant bombardment of ads and there's no option to pay to avoid the ads--some of which force you to click through to the app's download page to get back to playing Boggle. It also watches your web searches and serves up ads by mining your history, often forcing you to click to a web page you've already seen/gotten the info you need.
Worst of all, there seems to be no shortage of creepy guys who try and use it as a nerdy dating method, "you're good with making words with your fingers, what else do those fingers do?" I hate it when random strangers get to chat with random strangers they're playing against because this seems to always be where it goes, but at least you can block players.
If I didn't have friends who seem to enjoy this app so much, I would love to never see the app version again. And I adore Boggle in the meatworld, so...
Fixed: The same diaper ads 20+ times a day
The game itself is a very good one in general with a few glitches that aren't a big deal, but for the last four months I've been getting two diaper ads, one each for Luvs and Pampers, 95% of the time, which means more than 20 times a day, and they're driving me crazy. I will never need to buy diapers, and they're video ads that I can repeat word for irritating word, I including infant screams. Once in a while I'll get the Progressive video ad with the man-child, which is really obnoxious, but I almost welcome it at this point. I've contacted tech support 3 separate times with responses ranging from sympathetic to form letter "thanks for your input, valued player!", but nothing changes. I would be happy to pay for an ad-less version, but please God at least stop the diaper ads. Give me ads for games I might actually buy, I'll take those.
Update: After posting this review, the diaper ads disappeared, thank God. The game itself really is good and fun, and I've rarely had issues with running out of tickets or coins, though I do wish they had the option to buy an ad-free version.
Buggy software, Poor customer service
I agree with other comments here. On the bright side, Pavel is a fun game to play and while you are playing it it’s enjoyable. That is, until one of the numerous bugs in the software pops up. Such as freezing your screen while you wait interminably for a game to get tallied, following which it often crashes and you lose the tokens you used to play. Others have noted the obnoxious requirements to keep buying power ups in order to be competitive. It would be great not to have any of those and just to play head to head, made the best person win.
My most recent miserable experience was having an all-time high 36 game win streak suddenly and mysteriously erased by the software, even though I had not lost a game. When I wrote to customer service about it they repeatedly said they couldn’t do anything about it and claimed I had lost to another player. I asked them to send me the evidence, because there was none on my screen. They wouldn’t do it and obnoxiously kept signing their notes with “Have a great day!“
There are other games online that treat the customer more fairly, have better software and better customer service. Go for those. Leave this one alone.
