bs-16i is a 16 multi-timbral playback sampler. It supports SoundFont, and can be used for keyboard instrument, MIDI sound module, and MIDI player.
The sampler engine is ported from bs-1 / bs-16, which is developed as professional plug-in for Logic (Audio Units) and Cubase (VST instrument).
Using SoundFont libraries, you can play with your great number of Instruments.
It supports all standard MIDI messages, using pre-installed GeneralUser GS SoftSynth v1.44.sf2 (S. Christian Collins), your iPhone and iPad can be used as a GM (General MIDI) sound module.
As a keyboard instrument, you can play with scalable screen keyboard, pitch bend wheel, and many control change controllers.
Internal MIDI player supports SMF (Standard MIDI File) format, and bounced wave can be shared with other apps using AudioCopy.
SoundFont and SMF files can be sent to bs-16i by using the file sharing functions of iTunes, and OpenIn from other apps (DropBox, etc).
Moreover, this application supports Core MIDI Interface like as IK Multimedia iRig KEYS / iRig MIDI, YAMAHA iMX-1, LINE6 MIDI Mobilizer 2, and Apple Camera Connection Kit with USB Generic MIDI Interface. With them you can communicate with other external MIDI hardware like as synthesizer, sequencer. Also bs-16i can be background and drived from other apps using Virtual MIDI.
Audiobus technology is supported. You can send bs-16i's output stream to other apps via Audiobus app. Also with iOS7 and later Inter-App Audio is supported. You can send bs-16i's output stream to other apps directly.

This is by far the best midi controller app that I have ever used. It far surpasses anything else that's out there. It's pretty simple to use, and has great sounds. I'm also appreciative of the fact that you can load sounds in addition to the preloaded sounds.
If there is one criticism, it is that there's no way to split the keyboard with Sam. In other words I would like to have bass in my left hand, and some melody or chording sound in my right hand.
Wow! Did not expect it to be so good.
Only wish one could MIDI-learn the controls like frequency and Q. However very nice sound and extremely low latency. Surprisingly good acoustic piano rivals and even surpasses some dedicated piano apps. Fantastic strings, brass, and drums. And it all works very smooth on older hardware...iPad2 with Alesis I/O Dock in my case. Update with MIDI-learn, and the fifth star gets lit.
Great app. Can't use onstage though.
Great app. The ability to get sound fonts on here is awesome. However, the polyphony really lacks A LOT!!!!! Such a good wasted app. Can't use live until the polyphony comes WAAAAYYYYY UP!!!!!
