"Catan", the legendary strategy game provides gaming fun anytime, anywhere.
True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources.
The game allows you to challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI:
Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his...
The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers", "Cities and Knights" and two new special scenarios are available as In-App purchases.
The complete Seafarers expansion includes more than 10 additional scenarios with an extensive campaign. Become Harbormaster, discover new islands and extra game elements like ships, gold fields, treasures and pirates. Ahoy!
The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Invest new trade goods in city improvements to build one of the three metropolises of Catan – but beware of the barbarians attracted by Catan’s new wealth! You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps.
Exciting adventures await you in the two new scenarios "Enchanted Land" and "The Great Canal". Vanquish dragons and bag their treasures or build a canal to help barren grain fields bloom once more.

Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device?
Answer: Don’t worry! Your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu.
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter „CatanWarp*“ (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.
Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!

What's New in Version 4.6.1
Catan 4.6.1. includes the following optimizations and bug fixes
- Various performance enhancements and optimizations regarding stability
- Browsing the friends list for multiplayer invitations works again for friends lists with numerous entries, on all devices.
- Fixed a bug that could cause the game to crash or the AI to move ships irregular after the AI obtains a specific treasure.
Robo-Settlers change the game. Plan accordingly.
Other reviews complain about the computer players ganging up on you, but really it makes sense and it wouldn't work any other way. Without warm bodies of actual people, the game is totally different. You just have to figure out the strategy of the computer and avoid things that will make other players rob you. If you have three cities on an 8 hex and 8 victory points, then yeah, they're going to rob that hex EVERY SINGLE TIME. So space out your cities and stock up on knights if you feel you're being robbed too much. According to my in-game statistics, I've won 58% of my games. Now that I've figured out the quirks of my robo-opponent, I win more often and my win percentage is accelerating increasingly. Another tip, they basically never rob you (only each other) until you make a settlement or city, so plan your first move accordingly and don't fear the robber until you have executed your first point gain.
App functionality is decent, but playing AI needs improvement
The functionality is pretty good, although it is very easy to lose track of everyone's cards since everything happens pretty fast. Playing against the AI is absolutely frustrating though. The way the game is made hard is by giving the AI as many 7's as possible once you're in the lead so they can block and steal your cards. I've gone rounds several times where each AI uses a knight and steals from me, and then gets a 7 and steals from me again. This is completely unrealistic and not how the game should be made difficult. I just finished playing a game where I had 9 points while the next highest had 5. Due to the number of robbers and cards stolen from me, I went 6-7 rounds without having more than 3 cards by the time my turn comes around and then lost the game because another AI traded this one all the cards necessary for a city in one turn. The algorithm for these AI definitely needs some improvement. The dice should be based solely on the probability of the numbers.
I love catan!
I really love this game!! There are a couple annoying things... Like when you click "online" and then click "quick game" a game opens, but sometimes it won't allow you to join that game coz you're waiting for another person to join, and if they never join you end up stuck. The only thing to do is close out and then go back to the home screen. where you have to click "online" again and go through that entire process. I wish you could shuffle between the different games instead of having to go offline. Also, a chat box would be super cool! Or maybe even like an option to rate other players.... So many games have sucked because a player isn't winning so they quit mid game. That's frustrating. If I knew a player was a quitter, I'd rather not play with them, ya know?
