Works fine with iPhone 3G & iOS 4.1, prices are user submitted

Can't speak to any of the issues that others are having with the new iOS, but I have no problem with this app on my iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1. It works perfectly.

As for the prices, everything on the Gas Buddy site is all user driven. When people submit the prices on the site, they have the option of including whatever grade (unleaded, premium, diesel, etc) they choose. If premium is what you need, but no one is putting in premium prices, blame your fellow drivers, not the app. And, if a price was submitted more than 2 hrs ago, chances are good it's changed. The gas stations don't provide the pricing information on this app, and they don't advertise when they plan on changing their prices. Deal with it.

Otherwise, the app works pretty well. I don't like how the map feature dumps you out of Gas Buddy and into Google maps, without a way to come back into the app. You have to relaunch Gas Buddy. Not a big issue, but a minor inconvenience. Not the prettiest thing to look at. I'm guessing that David went for function over form. Took me a second to figure how to toggle between price and distance. And, not many options, but what it does, it does well.

Maps link is useless

Some sort of compass with the distance results (indicating if you're going towards or away from a nearby station) would be helpful.

But a huge problem is that the maps/directions from a station send you to the google maps mobile site instead of just shooting the address to the default maps app. I'm no huge fan of apple's maps, but they should be able to find an address. Sending me to the crappy mobile google maps site in safari for directions while I'm driving is useless and a hazard. Looking for a new app.

App is broken. Needs fixing.

No matter where I am the app only finds stations close to the location I was in when I made my first query. You can imagine how useless this is. I'm using an iPhone 4 and I know it's not a problem with my GPS because it tells me that my search by distance yields a station over 26 miles away. Until this is fixed it's literally of no use whatsoever - well if anyone is looking for an app that will tell them gas prices at stations nearly 30 miles away, then this is it. If that were my goal I'd give it five stars.
