Cisco Global Internet Speed Test (GIST)
By Cisco Systems, Inc.
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Cisco GIST allows you to measure your connection speeds over Wi-Fi and your cellular provider (if applicable) based on your location and network access speed at the time of a test. Whether you’re a diehard iPhone fanatic or a recent iPhone inductee, this new application from Cisco will help you quickly understand the “gist” of what your phone is capable of at any given time. This application will also enable you to compare your cellular and Wi-Fi speeds with other iPhone users around the world.

Tends to be fairly accurate
I like this app. It seems to be very stable and gives me fairly consistent readings through multiple tests. I've tried other apps that don't provide the same. One of the biggest things I like is that there are no apps to pollute the results. I have the app from the other well-known Speedtest company, but it doesn't do nearly as well.
Works great for me
I'm always looking for flaws in apps, but this one works great. Sometimes you have to push the "get results" button a couple of times, but it always kicks in and gives an accurate reading. I'm not surprised to read all the negative reviews, but my guess is that their iPhones are to blame for any glitches...from me, an easy 4 stars.
Would like to move the map pin
I'm in Jersey City, but the thing thinks I'm in Brooklyn (so does GoogleMaps). I'd like to move the pin.
It'd be great to visualize coverage down to the street level based on collected data. The Ookla app doesn't do that either, but I hope that Cisco has the appetite for the big-data collection. I'm getting V32bis speeds in Jersey City on Verizon for my iPhone5s.
